| December 16, 2004 | | Photo: Canyonlands Panorama | Anyone who has ever been in one of of the Images of Nature galleries can appreciate the real power of a panoramic photograph. To the landscape photographer, the panorama is a power tool for describing a place. The problem with panoramas is the cost to create them. A true panorama camera like a Fuji 6x17 can cost upwards of $10,000 after lenses. An alternate way to create a good quality panorama is to splice multiple digital images together. The photo below was created just that way.
This image is Canyonlands National Park on a cold January morning. The image is actually 4 seperate horizontal images shot using a Nikon D100 with a 50MM Nikkor Lens. The image was pieced together with the finest photo software available - Photoshop. In the tips and tricks section of my web site I have a full article about how to make panoramic images like this one. The link to that site is below. As with all images appearing on this site, they are the property of Loren French, and they are protected by copyright. Any images can be purchased as prints, or right to use can be purchased for any use. | | |
