Photographing Delicate Arch | Arches National Park

I figured I would start this blog with one of my favorite images. This photo was taken October 2003 in Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah. This particular arch is Delicate Arch, which happens to be the arch appearing on the Utah license plate.

The image was shot using a Nikon D100, a Sigma 15-30 lens at the 15mm position. F/8, 1/80th with a tripod. Natural light, no filters or polarizers.

Reaching this arch does require some hiking. About 3 miles round-trip. Going to the arch the hike is almost all climbing, probably 800-1200 foot gain.
